When I first put the pole holder on I put the pole on my ladder that I take off and on located on the side. I did have one time where it did tear off my gutter extender off, since then I have modified the pole holder mount so it is mounted permanently affixed to the rear of TH between the door and the side of the trailer, this way it does not come in contact with the gutter extender I sandwich some angle between the tabs on the holder, and drilled and tapped the holes 1/4-20 bolts into the steel frame of the TH. I think the angle is approx.one inch wide by 5/16 inch thickness and have not had a problem since and it has been in some pretty strong wind gusts
