Gulf Waters comes with more favorable reviews from people I know but we have never stayed there. http://www.gulfwatersrvresorttx.com/
We have stayed at Pioneer numerous times and have always enjoyed it. They have easy beach access, mini store and a shuttle to town. The staff is always friendly and the park is clean. Be aware though, the sites are relatively small.
Gulf Waters RV park is by far the best there is in that area. Very nice park with a really nice boardwalk to the beach. The sites are spacious and beautifully landscaped. We stayed 2 sites away from boardwalk which was very convenient. All of the sites are nice. We really enjoyed our stay there and will go there again.
Just left Gulfwaters on Aug.17th best RV park we have ever stayed in. Good people run it, the best of everything. You can't go wrong choosing Gulfwaters.
We also enjoyed Gulf Waters for years, but we won't be returning I'm afraid. The lot owners have decided to raise monthly rates by over 30%. I'll stay elsewhere.
Gulf Waters has sites specifically for motorhomes but it has just as many sites for other RVs. It us a big place. It is more expensive than other places but it is much nicer in my opinion. We liked the fact that all of the sites have nice amenities and are spacious. Any other time we have stayed in Port A other than at Gulf Waters, we felt we were right on top of our neighbor. I'll admit to never staying at Pioneer but when I tried to reserve there once, they told me our 5er was too big for the sites they had available. We are 37' with 3 slides. At Gulf Waters, we can fit in ANY of their sites. After staying there, it would be quite hard to stay anywhere else when visiting the area. They fill up fast so reservations in advance are necessary.
