possible freeze problem in water system

Greetings,
I have an 27' 05
Fleetwood 5th wheel, that I just bought and was not familiar with all the drains, so I think I have a freeze problem. I have put some water (10-15gals) into it, turn on the pump, and all I get out of the faucet is spurting. About a month ago I looked around and saw some water in one of the outside storage compartments, and the way it is leveled, it may have come from the hot water heater. I was there this past weekend and had the pump on, and could not find any leaks at all, and still getting the spurting from the faucet. And the pump does not go off, just keeps running. It seems that air is getting into the lines, but not leaking anywhere. Is it possible that the air leak is above the water-level, and I need to fill it up with water to find the leak?
Thanks,
Jim

Filling the fresh tank would be the first, and simplest, step. Go from there... Check inlet screen; the check valve could be frozen up and not letting water in; pump diaphragm could be bad. All been suggested previously.

What if it is just filling the water heater and purging the air from the tank

check your lines and water level like everyone else has suggested but in an old pop up of mine I had water freeze in it and it killed the diaphragm in the water pump. Pretty easy to take apart and inspect.

I forgot to state that the camper is out at a hunting lease and city water is not available, but electric is. I have to haul water in.

Why not connect hose to 'city water' and check plumbing system out first ?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

OK, thanks, I guess the best thing for me to do is fill it up completely, and see what happens.

Are you sure you put 10-15 gallons of water in tank? Unless you really measured it, you may not have enough water in it for the pump to pick up. Mine takes near 10 gallon when the tank has been completely drained for the pump to pick up without air.

If the water heater is not full the pump will not shut off until full of water.

Look to see if there is a screen filter on the input side of the pump. It may have popped apart if it was not drained good.
Remember that it will take enough water to fill water heater before spitting will quit.

It might be sucking air.
