Pullrite superglide bed rail clearance with GMC 3500

The background: How to raise the 4400 Pullrite Superglide to increase bed rail clearance on a '18 3500 Denali. Bed to top of bed rail measures 21.75" in the Denali. Bed to top of bed rail measures 20.25" in my current '12 RAM. I need to regain the 1.5" I'm losing plus I'd like 2 more for some headroom. Pin box is already at its max so I think my only choice is to raise the PullRite hitch. Wtih the RAM I've got 5.75" and I've touched both bed rails with the trailer. Dont want to do that again. I suppose I could weld some box channel to the existing hitch mounting rail but am afraid they might roll in a panic stop.

The question: Anyone had to with the increased bed rail height in the Sierra yet?
  • Raising the hitch height on the hitch is no big deal, a couple of bolts and pull it up to the higher set of holes. Doing it would be a lot easier with two people tho. I'd be cautious about re-engineering the hitch, you will change the lever arm for the worse. Call up the Pullrite people, they are very helpful, if raising the hitch isn't enough.
  • Trailer will be slightly nose high but I think I can remedy that with modified shackles on the trailer. Gotta get the front end right first though...right?

I wrote to PullRite and they are looking into this for me. Some slide hitches offer a height adjustment and that doesnt seem to be the case with the 4400 PullRite.
