Purchasing the right size

When we were looking that was also the two we checked out. That 3 feet more times than not was all storage. We went with the bigger size and more storage. I am very happy we did.

3' should make little difference as far as towing goes. Some things it will effect are;

1) Weight. Does the extra weight push the limits of your tow vehicle?
2) Fuel Costs. Will the probable extra weight add to your fuel costs and will that bother you?
3) Comfort. Will the added length (and probable extra weight) give you "creature comforts" that you want?
4) Parking. Will the added length cause any issues when parked at home or in the parks and sites you normally visit?

Two years ago we traded our KZ (that we loved but was beginning to its age) for our present rig. We went down 21/2' and have never really noticed the difference. Actually, the layout we have now actually works better and feels larger most of the time.

Weigh your options carefully and make the best decision you can. Do that and you'll probably be happy.

Do ever picture yourself double towing anything like a motorcycle trailer or boat? If so, many states limit total length to 65 ft. My 3500 CC short bed truck, 29 ft FW and 12 ft utility trailer total 63 feet. My FW from rear wall to front nose/wall is 29 ft. A long bed truck and another foot of FW would probably put me over that limit.

What is your tow vehicles ability as far as weight differences between the two?

Between the 2 you are considering....
weight: (that works best for your truck's payload rating)
floorplan: (that you like better) are more important than length

Depending on your camping style, the extra length could potentially limit campsites. May or may not ever be an issue.

I can tell the difference however its something you get used to quick or I did anyway.

I went from a 26' 7600 gvwr trailer that weighed 5800-6000lbs when road ready to a 28' 5er with two slides at 11100-11300 lbs gross weight. I could tell the difference in weight....but it was something I got used to.

No, 3' in length will not be noticed. Often times a little longer will be easier to back. Height will make a difference, for clearance, depending where you camp. Height of FW overhang should be considered, due to taller late model trucks. You don't want to tow nose high. A 3' longer FW could be much heavier. If your truck can handle the extra pin weight, it won't be an issue.
