Question about Alpine brand and . . .

Hello to All,

I haven't been around in awhile, but I'm back and I have a question:

I'm retiring my venerable 2003 Jazz (yep -- I still have my *first* RV), and I'm looking towards a full-time rig. My requirements are pretty much:

1) Has to have room for my dual sport motorcycle
2) Must have a dinette or booth
3) I'm trying to stay under 42'
4) I want just enough garage for the motorcycle, some tools, etc.
5) I'd like stackable W/D hookups and a dryer vent - preferably in the bedroom.

So this takes me the question: I am looking at the Alpine 3900RE because it seems to be a near-perfect fit (no RV is perfect, right?).

How does Alpine stack up against Grand Design and Heartland for long-term full-time use? I've had my entry-level Jazz for 15 years so I'm sure I'll hold on to my next one for quite awhile too.

I am not asking how it would compare to StarCraft, New Horizons, or DRV, just about how it compares to other mass-produced units.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.
  • Since you say you will be full timing in it, I would go for the full body paint option. Much easier to keep nice looking since it will be exposed to the elements daily. I have seen very few on dealers lots though. Probably have to order it.
Otherwise my perception is that it's a top of the line mass production trailer.
Grand Design seems to have much better customer relations vs. Keystone though. But warranty issues and repairs on the road fulltime will be a crapshoot I guess.
  • Alpine's are nice 5er's and are in the same class as Grand Designs Solitudes, Heartland Bighorns, Jayco Pinnicles,Forest River Cardinals, and their fellow Keystone brother Montana which I have been fulltiming in for 7 years now, if there was a Alpine dealer near me I think I would have seriously considered one as me and my wife have been in a few of them at the Rv resorts and really liked them and so did the owners and are rated for fulltime use just like the one's I mentioned
  • Buying a trailer is a crapshoot. Frankly, I don't hold a lot of store for any trailer as they all seem to be rapidly made, with little to no quality control, and kicked out the door. I will say make sure you check everything over extremely closely, no matter what you buy, to make sure it is as it should be.
