"Lo DC" message on 2014 Norcold Refir

I'm on day 2 of a nice vaca and my refir dies in my 2014 Montana. After getting this Lo-DC message I looked at the battery meter and it is toast. No battery charge. Tried to start refir on propane and that won't work either. AC, microwave work, along with all wall outlets but anything that runs on battery is toast. Battery water levels are good-Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
  • Fridge wont work without 12vdc.
Either your battery or the converter is dead. Unhook the battery and see what the voltage does. You'll need a real volt meter.
  • Unplug and turn on an incandescent light. Observe the brightness. Now plug in. If the lights get brighter then the converter is working. If the lights don't get brighter, check the reverse polarity fuses on the converter.
  • Do you have a master battery switch? Check that it's on.

Batteries can die, even full of electrolyte. Have the battery checked at a shop, where they can charge it, then do a load test.

As mentioned, make sure your disconnect, if you have one, is ON.

Check charging at the battery. If no charging, then your converter could be toast or, like me, might have blown a fuse.

Might want to consider a mobile RV tech to check things out for you. Check https://nrvia.org/ for a certified tech near where you're staying.

  • Thanks Lyle. Luckily neighbor had a charger. 5min on and fridge fired up. Still don't no if it's bad batteries or converter but for now charger stays on or 1st mate might have my hide

Sounds good, Jay. I found out the hard way that my converter was bad, when I was getting ready to leave a CG and had no lights, no fridge, no slides and no jacks. Even though I'd been plugged in for almost 3 days, the battery was dead. Ended up having to fire up the truck for the 30 minutes it took me to hitch and load up and I'm sure the neighbors weren't real happy as it was about 7 AM. I know =I= wasn't real happy. Turns out that I had some blown fuses on the converter, which killed the 12v charging circuit. Dealer also found some sketchy wiring connections which also could have caused issues, and tightened them all up.
