Replacing Bent Axle - type and size

It must be the cruising boater still in me but I actually CARRY a spare axle stored in the basement of the 5er. Got mine from http://www.easternmarine.com/

You more than likely have a suspension problem. A flipped equalizer or bent shackle.

Torsion axels are the way to go no doubt. However from factory they are zeroed out and an alignment check should always be done when loaded.
They come in 10 degree down, 0 degree, 10 degree up, 20 degree up and 45 degree up. The lower the degree or even 10 degree up gives the smoothest ride.
When I replace my axels on our Cedar Creek I will go with 0 or 10 up and do so by building the frame down for proper clearance with cross members for stability.
Oh how I wish they would do this from factory.
I'm in the business of repairing trailers and this is one of the many changes I've made to suspensions.

Think about MOR RYDE (IS) independent suspension.

If you ever think about replacing axles --- just do away with them and get Independent Suspension installed on your trailer. You will never regret it. Best ride ever and your trailer will last years longer.

I put them on my old 5th wheel and also added disc brakes.

We have them on our new 5'ver and would have nothing else.

From my personal experience if you bent the axles the next set will bend for the same reason. If you plan on keeping that trailer take it to Mor/yde in Indiana and replace with IS suspension and Disk brakes. If you do that you will enjoy that trailer for a long time.
In the unlikely circumstance you knock it out of alignment it would have adjustment bolts like realigning your pickup.
Been there done that with our Montana and our Mobile Suite came equipped as described.

But even with new axles an alignment check should be done to be sure everything is straight so those new tires don't wear.

Given that info, I'd almost lean towards an alignment issue. Not saying that you =don't= have a bent axle, but it's something that a heavy trailer/truck shop could have easily checked. Sounds like you're in the process of upgrading anyway, so it's a moot point.

Pretty sure it's a lot more money but you might look at the MorRyde independent suspension system which is a torsion system, no springs. We plan on keeping our trailer long term and will have this done soon. On the other hand, we have similar weights and the 7K Dexter Never Lube axles with disc brakes that came with the trailer have about 40K miles on them. Never had a problem. The only problem I have with the Never Lubes is they are not serviceable, just like the name says. Mine might go another 6 years with no issue but I would like to be able to service them yearly just to be sure.
