Replacing slide seals

My 5th wheel is 8 years old and I'm noticing a couple of the slide seals are showing heavy wear. In fact, one has separated and torn.

I've never worked with seals. When ordering, are seals specific to certain brands/models of trailers, or specific to certain brands of slide mechanisms? Obviously, one would have to order based on the length of the slide, but where to go from there?

I could get away with replacing a few pieces of seal, but I'm assuming the seals must come as a complete kit.

Advice appreciated...........
  • Search online, find a cross section that matches what you have. Measure total length needed and order it. Or measure and order from your brands local dealer.
  • Seals come as a very long strip with an adhesive covered with tape.
  • A good RV store can probably get what you need. You might also try trekwood.com. Enter your rig info and search for seals. Not the cheapest place to buy RV parts, but they do have a lot to choose from.
  • Manufactures use all sorts of configurations of seals. Here are some suggestions:

  • Are you looking to replace seal or the outer wiper. The big black rubber pieces you see are the wipers not the seal.
