I just bought a new 5er with a residential refrigerator, it has a 1000 watt inverter. I tried to run the refrigerator off the inverter yesterday and it did not appear to be working, the light was on, on the inverter switch, but when I opened the door of the refrigerator the light did not come on. I know with a house refrigerator if the light does not come on then there is no power.Any suggestions would be helpful

Was it working when you did your PDI ?

Our 5th wheel has a dealer added 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter and transfer switch to run the residential fridge when no shore power is available. There's about a 30 second delay built into the system before it will switch over from shore to inverter power when shore power is lost/disconnected. Of course, the batteries must be charged for the inverter to power the fridge, and the battery disconnect switch (the salesman switch) must be turned to the ON position.If the switch is lighted on the inverter, that suggests that it's getting 12VDC power. If you're comfortable using a voltmeter, start at the 120VAC output terminals of the inverter and start chasing the circuit through the transfer switch all the way to the fridge and see where you lose power. If not, time to either take it to the selling dealer (since it's under warranty, right?) or call in the mobile repair service.Rusty

We don't have a fiver (we have a Class A) but have breakers for each appliance so you might need to flip a breaker somewhere. We have a 2000W inverter and 8 house batteries for the fridge and other appliances.I hope you get it figured out!

While such a unit might only draw 600-700 watts while running, the starting surge would be in the neighborhood of 2,000 watts, way beyond the capacity of that inverter. A 1500 watt inverter MIGHT have enough surge capacity, but not a 1,000 watt inverter.

Our Mobile Suites came with a 1,000 watt inverter, 2 6v golf cart batteries and a Whirlpool residential fridge, works great!

Sounds like a breaker may be tripped, I'd call the dealer or take it back to them and have it checked.

Call the manufacturer and ask them.

I have one with a Samsumg residential refrigerator, it works well. However, initially it did not. The inverter was wrongly connected and did not work. The dealer changed the way it had been wired and has worked fine for the last year. I love it.

The Samsung units use very little power - even at start-up. We have a GoPower PSW 1000 watt inverter with 2 group 24 deep cycle 6 volt batteries. This combo pre-cools our frige in 90+ degree FL heat to 0/37 degrees in about 3 hours with 2/3 battery level in reserve. At that point, we load up and leave and the truck keeps the batteries from discharging any lower during our trip. we have had the residential set-up since August and LOVE it.

Many of them are operating just fine with 1000 watt inverters. The standard inverter DRV supplies with a residential fridge is a 1000 watt. They have a larger inverter and larger coach battery system with 2 additional 6VDC batteries as an option to power more appliances in addition to the residential fridge. The 1500 watt PSW inverter in our DRV is more than is needed to power the residential fridge - it's been doing it just fine since we took delivery in May 2014.

The SAMSUNG 18 cu-ft French door that JAYCO uses only draws 3.9 amps. Works great with a 1000 watt inverter.
