Which side of a trailer is considered right side and which is left? I always thought a vehicle side was determined by sitting the seat, Driver side left, passenger side right side. friend disagrees with me. what do you say?

I know I am a little late on this, but by facing the direction of forward travel from behind said vehicle powered or not would determine right or left side. JMO

Your analysis is correct

Rightside...passenger side....Curbside
Leftside....drivers side......Roadside

Just try and put a 'rightside' brake assembly on the leftside (roadside) of trailer. It will be backwards!

Me Again,
To correct you on nautical terms Red is right side returning from sea
Port and left has 4 letters
right and starboard has UNEVEN letters thence uneven numbers
When piloting a vessel (boat/ship) you occupy the left side and pass on the right
Simple law of navigation on the sea/waterways
Dis-obey and get run over.
### ever notice most boats wheel is in the middle or right side???

Confusing.......So I am backing my trailer in to a campsite. My wife shouts at me to turn more right. I frantically turn my truck more right and my 5ver hits the tree on the left. In this case starboard or port won't help ME either.

Yup that should get rid of any confusion seeing as starboard refers to the steering side of the boat which happens to be the right side.:?

Just use door side and off door side, then you can not go wrong in North America.

In boating all the short words go together:
Port
Left
Red

All the long word go together:
Starboard
Right
Green

Learned that in the Sea Scouts in the late 50's.
