Road warning! Indiana near Ohio line I-70 east / west bound

Indiana has some serious road issues on west bound and east bound I-70 within 4 miles of the Ohio line! I live near there and over the last several months these "pot holes" have damaged countless trailers including tearing the axles out of a few campers. I have seen empty semi trailers bounce 3 feet high and there is a terrible amount of debris scattered around. The worst one is east bound just over the top of the hill past the hospital exit in the right lane.
Be careful traveling near this section (left lane is safest bet)
  • We use a free app for my wife's Iphone called "Wayz". It allows users to post hazord, wrecks, traffic jams ect.. Perfect for this situation, If anyone has the a smart phone you may want to check it out.
  • You would think the state would put some cold mix in those to keep from someone getting killed..
Will let my brother in law know. As he will be running that section next weekend.

  • Two auto accidents since I first posted this, hitting holes and loosing control! They have signs up that flash "Rough road ahead use extreme caution" I'm telling you to stay in the left lane and be careful! Watch for other drivers loosing control or parts and objects flying off of big rigs!!
  • Yep, "Our Place" nailed it. Before taking the fiver over to a campground near Richmond, IN, we drove over in the car. Following a truck on westbound I-70, we saw him hit one of these potholes, and he was all over the road for a couple of hundred feet. The next weekend, we towed the fiver over to the campground, but knew where the hazards were, so we were able to dodge them.
  • My Indiana friends tell me that eastbound I-70 is still a mess between Terre Haute and Cloverdale. Hwy 40 may be an option.
  • Boy, I must have been lucky or the potholes are more recent. I was through there in early June solo and moving pretty fast. I didn’t notice anything like that, but there was a LOT of construction zones in Illinois, Indiana and some in Ohio. On the way back we saw about a 7 mile backup eastbound, but I think that was closer to Terre Haute. I was glad I was westbound.
