Here's a thread I started in the TT section that has a lot of good information on the subject at hand:

After posting and considering all the responses I pretty much decided that I'd travel a ways to save the money and deal with service/repair when needed. My local dealer gave me the whole, "you'll be at the bottom of our priority list and we'll likely have to charge you for most repairs since the factory only authorizes X amount." Overall, I don't believe them. I have a feeling if they screw you around too much, a call to the manufacturer can get things moving.
In many cases, the saving are A LOT for a bit of a drive.
