- Road_PhantomExplorerWe have Geico. A few months ago we got hit with a hail storm in El Paso that put holes in the awning and broke all of the room vents. The rubber roof seemed to me to be undamaged, but Geico insisted that it had to be replaced. They paid for all of it. My truck also had extensive damage and now you can't tell that it was ever in a hail storm. The claim was considered an act of God and covered in full.
- bpoundsNomadI suspect it is always cheaper to add an RV to your truck policy. Might not be what you want in terms of coverage.
I'm currently with Farmers. The fiver is just an added rider.
Regarding Allstate, yes we had a claim on our last trailer while we were an Allstate customer. No complaints really, they covered the claim and were easy to work with. But I would have to say that the adjuster freely admitted that he knew nothing about travel trailers, and had no company resources to help him with the claim. He gave me a few repair companies to call for estimates, and he said they would accept any of them. I chose one, and once the work started, the repair shop had to increase the cost a bit, and Allstate had no issues with that as far as I know. They worked directly with the shop on those details. For these reasons, I don't think I would recommend them, based solely on their lack of RV experience. I would still be with Allstate, after being a customer for over 20 years, but alas, their prices skyrocketed a few years ago for no apparent reason. - mileshuffExplorerI have AllState as a rider on my truck policy. I've never made an RV claim so not sure how good this policy is.
Anyone else with any Allstate/RV experience? - uncledonExplorerI have had The Hartford through AARP for many years. I had one of my old towables go up in flames along the road years ago and all contents were covered at replacement value not depreciated value. I also have my home insured through them so that may have had something to do with all of that. I have made a couple other claims since then, the most recent being hail damage to my awning which was covered completely as I have no deductible on my comprehensive coverage. As far as cost is concerned, I live in MI which is a no-fault state so that impacts the cost considerably.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIAdd to truck it's dirt cheap.
- Jim2007ExplorerWe have National General Insurance now for the 5th wheel and state farm for the truck.... We did have State Farm for both the 5th wheel and the truck. ....We have never had a claim in 12 year. The national general insurance costs more but is supposed the better with trailer claims. I would encourage you to check out both.... Jim2007
- NDscranExplorerHave never had a claim, but have been quite happy with Geico's coverages and premiums. Lot's of things included that are not normally addressed from some other insurance companies. Geico has it's own "RV" adjusters, so not getting someone who knows nothing about RV's if a problem should arise. We moved from MetLife and they saved us a LOT of money and gave us better coverage! Also looked real hard at Good Sam. We are members and use their mail service on occasion and have always had great customer service.
- john_betExplorer III see my local independent agency and go with their recommendations. So far, since 2000, I have never had an RV claim.
- lj2654ExplorerI had National Interstae but agent just changed me to Safeco after being told that National Interstate is going to stop writing rv policies in a year!
Safeco is Liberty Mutual! - CampinfanExplorer IIII recently switched to Liberty Mutual. They beat my auto and car by over half (same coverage too) and the trailer is about $56.00 for the year....including something like $10K in contents which is way more than I need. How many pie irons and foldable camp chairs does it take to equal $10K.....more than what I have. I had National General before that for the trailer only and they were really good too! Easy to deal with on a couple claims.
