RV Repair Time-Frame

What is a reasonable time for the dealer to fix your rv? We peeled a tire tread and it damaged the side panel and nicked a hydraulic line. We sent the unit to the dealer on September 9th and are still waiting. Sept. 9 of 2014.

Have you actually seen your RV at the dealer since you dropped it off? They may have sold it by now!!!!!

A guy from our church has a =very= nice TT (>$100k MSRP) that he got from CW. In the first year, CW has had it > half the time to fix a huge, and constantly changing, list of issues. The way it's working for him is that he calls them up, says he needs to use it. They pull it out, he picks it up, goes camping, then drops it off on Monday AM. They pull it back into the service bay. He figures that of the time they've had it, it's spent > 90% of that time actually =in= the service bay, so free covered storage for part of the year! ๐Ÿ™‚

Apparently you don't use it very often. Mine has been in the the dealer now for 6 weeks and they hear from me daily and also made a payment for me since it was not available when I needed it. I would have been put in jail by now if it was a year.

That is typical for an ""RV"" dealer repair shop. When are RV'ers going to stop using these places?

Just because it is an RV whether it be a MH, FW or TT you CAN have it repaired at any local truck/auto repair shop. And if you don't have to order parts....have it back in one day!

RV dealer/repair shops are NOT the only place to have an RV repaired.

Their rates are out of this world, parts prices double, incompetent fly by the seat of their pants techs and yes they do keep RV's for weeks/months on end for repair.

I've been on the road RV'ing for years and have NEVER stepped foot into an RV Store Repair Shop for repairs on my RV.

Get over there and pick up your RV and take it to your local truck/auto repair shop.:C

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

I assume that comment was made tongue-in-cheek ?

When you get the bill, take it and then give them the 12 months of payment coupons on your bank note and tell them that since they have had possession of this unit for the last 12 months it's only fair that they make the payments. Please take an immediate cell phone picture of their facial expression and share with the rest of us.

We've called them every week since April. Their excuses were the usual run-around; waiting for the factory; factory waiting for parts; manufacturer shipped wrong parts; someone out on vacation; blah blah blah. Not until we did the leg-work by calling the factory and even the parts manufacturer did any progress get made. The unit is all fixed except when they sent the part pre-painted they confused the color champagne for the color black. Now the unit is at the paint shop...they're saying 2 more weeks.
