Selecting MorRyde Pinbox bushing size

Getting ready to purchase one of these pinbox and see they can be ordered with different size rubber bushing depending on weight of the trailer. My 5er has a 12Klb GVWR and I'm trying to decide between two different sizes. The lightest one is for 11,500lb and under and the next size up is 11,500-14Klb so I am right in the middle of these two options. Just looking for any feedback from owners of this pinbox and which size they went with relative to the weight of their trailer. I'm leaning towards the 11,500-14K version.

I have the 11.5k MorRyde on a 5th wheel weighing roughly the same. I still get a little push pull effect. It's not too bad but I'm thinking about going to the heavier rubber.
I have my trailer level when towing. I added air bags to my truck last year. It helped somewhat but I think a heavier rubber bushing would be an improvement.

So in my opinion the for/aft push pull is caused by two things.

#1 Nose high attitude, the back axle has a harder time over bumps, and the equalizer can't really compensate for it. This results in a pull-push effect when that axle goes over a bump.

#2 Light pin, while stated OK with 15% to 25%, I feel the closer to 15% the more of a teeter-totter effect, and if nose high this is aggravated. Running at least a 20% pin weight will reduce the teeter-totter and result in a smoother ride.

There's your answer. I'd go with the heavier rated one IMHO. We own our second trailer with the MorRyde pinbox, the difference is dramatic. Having the heavier bushings really won't have any adverse effect on your ride, trust me. :B

Trailer Saver

This was my solution.

I tow an 12,360# GVWR 5er with a 2001 Ram 2500, and have a standard Reese hitch and standard pin box. I have near zero chucking because my 5er rides smooth it's self!

#1 Reason for chucking is too light of pin 20% minimum for a 5er 22% is better. I always run with FW tank full as it is forward of the axles.

#2 Fiver as near level as possible, our 32' might now be at most an inch nose high.

#3 Great shocks on the TV, Bilstein's on ours.

#4 Shocks (working) of the 5er.

#5 Wet bolts and heavy duty shackles on the 5er.

So I would be in the same boat, as our 5er weighs in at just over 11,000# with a GVWR of 12,360#, so I would likely go for the heaver bushing, as I currently have about zero chucking.

Just wondering what you expect to accomplish with the Mor-Ryde, as you should have a zero slop hitch arrangement now.

Forgot to mention it is a toyhauler 5er so sometimes it absolutely gets loaded to max GVWR while other times not even close when we don't take the toys with us.

The question to ask yourself is do I ever load my 5th to 12k. If no then order the 11500 and below. If you do load to 12k or above then you need the one that goes to 14k.
