Skylights - Do they flex to conform to radius/slope of roof?

Hello all--

As some of you may have read my thread on the inverted skylight in my RV:

previous thread

I will be placing the skylight. I found several on ebay that are made of plastic (doesn't indicate what type of plastic, only that they are shatterproof)

new skylight

My questions is......do any of these skylights flex enough to conform to roof slope? From on top of roof, there doesn't appear to be much slope, but I don't want to crack a new skylight when I go to screw it down.

Thanks

You have the clear in your link, I would strongly suggest the smoked version.

The one in the link is opaque white. Why do you suggest the smoke version? If Smoke on outside, what color on inside?

I was thinking opaque on out side and opaque on inside.

    Thanks
  • what is a metal skylight frame? Do you have a pic? All of the skylights I am finding do not have a metal frame.
  • I discovered that the skylight on my fw was cracked near one of the screws. The company supplied a new skylight and sealant and paid for the labor at my local rv repair shop. The folks there that did the replacement suggested that I add a metal frame because there was none. I went ahead and paid the extra few bucks for the frame and I think it is more secure.

  • Your roof doesn't have much curvature........that flat piece of plexiglass was/is in place w/o cracking.

Don't see that you'll have any issues with new skylight

I personally liked the inverted one.....should have turned it into a 'mobile aquarium' Course you would have a high turn over rate due to heat :B
