Slide Creeping out! Any thoughts?

It's haunted.....after all, it's almost Halloween:B:B

I would guess that it's vibration. Did they supply any stops for the slides (you would use turnbuckles to hold it in)...we have the pad-eyes on our slide and the floor, so we could hold it in, if it were to creep out.

You may want to contact Jayco...see what they have to say. Yes, the warranty is long gone, but they are a good company, and should still be able to offer some suggestions.

Sounds like the brake on the slide out motor is released or failed. If you have the owners manual, it should tell you where to look to release the slide out motor brake.

There's a clutch that ratchets on the mechanical type slides.
Does the slide clack when hitting the stops on retract?

If the clacking sounds soft or not clacking it's probably the motor clutch.

If the slides are hydraulic then I dunno...

If it has electric slide rooms (not hydraulic) then slide locks should be used. They maintain pressure on the slide seals to be sure no water gets in when towing in the rain. Slides are not too likely to come out very far but it takes only a tiny but to cause a leak.

My Carriage has electric slides that have open/close rocker switches and above them on/off switches for each slide. The owners manual states that the on/off switches must remain on when the trailer is in motion to keep the slides in. Do you have the on/off switches and are you leaving them on? I have no slide locks and have friends with a Jayco Designer and I'm sure they don't either.

No on/off switches above the open/close rocker switches. Based on comments here and from what I've come across on the web, I'm thinking it's likely the slide brake that mounts adjacent to the motor. No 'clacking or clicking' when closing the slide, either. Simply comes all the way in and stops.

My 5th wheeler came with two "Majorette" batons. Ya know, the ones with the rubber tips at both ends? Simply slip them into two appropriate places they'll never side out while moving on the road again. Worked for me at least.

Had no end of hydraulic problems (yes I know you now have electric) with one 5er. The slide locks were a godsend. I love them. No worries about slides moving out while traveling.

on my old jayco eagle there was a lever on the end of the slide motor. one way it would creep a little bit the other it would stay wherever I left it.

x2 on the slide locks.
The trailer came with them.
We always use them while on the road.
