Storm at Gulf Shores AL on April 29.

We have a 2006 Carriage Carri-Lite XTreme 5. While in storage at the Gulf Shores, AL state park, on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 they had 22' of water in a very short time. We received a call from the park at 8:11pm the next day that the storage area was flooded and it appeared that all the rv's were also flooded. Was anyone on here effected by this storm? We are having a horrible time with our claim.
  • I was camped there during that storm. It was bad, and we were witness to the flooding of the storage area. All of the rigs in the storage area closest to the office were up to the floors in water...and stayed like that for days.

    Sorry for your issues....

It is Progressive, the coach sat in brackish water for 5 days up to the undercarriage. We purchased a full replacement policy for all causes. My hubby finally got to go to the rv today and got picks of the axles and brakes all rusted out already. The adjuster did not mention that during the inspection, nor were there any photos of it taken. See my photo attached.

Did the adjuster check the insulation in the underbelly to see if that needed to be replaced?
  • In the business quite a few years and have never seen a policy exclude Acts of God.
    Don

Unfortunately most policies do not cover flooding

Made me look. My policy (not Progressive) specifically covers loss due to "hail, water or flood." I think that may be typical rather than an exception on RV policies.

Many policies will exclude "Acts of God". I'm not an insurance specialist but I believe that phrase might trump the "hail, water, flood" coverage if some sort of disaster was declared. Look into it - I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

  • We left there on the 28th because the storm was coming so I guess we lucked out....
