Given that nearly every household in the civilized world has a coffee maker that is plugged in 24/7, I would suggest that there are much more important things to concern yourself with. Sounds like paranoia to me.

Ok now a real coffee maker question. Do you leave you maker plugged into the electric outlet 24/7? DW was at a safety seminar and they showed a coffee maker plugged in and not in use catch fire. Now we have no appliances that are left plugged in. I get the pot ready at night and get up plug in and turn on if I'm completely awake. LOL
I am really happy that you are so secure that nothing effects you. DW was involved in a near death fire as a child, I don't think it is paranoia and I have no problem plugging the coffee pot in when I want coffee if it gives her peace of mind. Thank you
