Surge Protector

You absolutely do not need any type protection! Until you do, then it could save you thousands! Had a 30 amp autoformer for previous rig, purchased a portable Progressive Industries 50 amp for the new fiver!

I bought a plug in so I can use it with a new trailer when the time comes. I use a 3/8" cable lock to secure it to the post.

Where on the fifth wheel do you mount the hardwired surge protector? Anyone have pictures of their installs? Thinking of the Progressive Industries EMSLCHW50 Surge Protector. Have a new 2015 Jayco Pinnacle KPTS. Love it. Dave

I have a plug in we have used for several years. I can't remember the name. It'd s 50amp. so a little heavy to move around. My next one will be hardwired. However this will work until I trade trailers.

I do now !Had a real close call and decided after 15 or so years I needed it! Sort of like an extra insurance policy.

My last two fivers have had hard wired units. We visit an average of 20-25 different campgrounds a year and I wouldn't be without one. If you only travel once or twice a year to the same places and always unplug during storms you may save a buck and get by without the protection, otherwise it could be a huge gamble.
