Tear in new floor ?

In the way of an update and to close this out.
The fix offered was to either replace all of the flooring in that level with new flooring or to remove the the flooring from the island to the rear of the coach. Then add carpet to that area. The coach with the damaged floor was a variation in the floor plan. Most units have carpet from the island to the rear wall.
And of course the slide would be adjusted to prevent a repeat of the issue.
We are passing on this particular unit anyhow, because the height is too great for our storeage building's 13 ft door opening.

A good flooring guy can do an inlay in vinyl that will be just about invisible. Unless the damage is large, that is probably what they will do. If the slideout continues to rub, it will damage it again, and possibly even peel up the repair which would be worse than if you just left it as is.

Just me being me, but once I've seen that damage I would probably go buy a different unit. That kind of thing should never be seen by customers. It shows a lack of respect on the dealers part.

I noticed that you are in northern MI so I foresee a problem with your floor cracking in several spots when it gets extremely cold. Any fix that is made may hold up but it will probably crack somewhere else sooner or later, but probably sooner.
I replaced my floor with Allure sold at Home Depot. There is a warning not to use it in RV's but mine has held up well in the bitter cold of northern Arizona and also here in the sweltering heat of FL. It's an easy do it yourself project.

Dealer did that to our new fiver too removing a dead refer. Once I got compensation I found a good installer and he laid new sheet goods for us. Still looks good after 9 years.

I got the easy answer.

That ole down the road stuff doesn't work very often.

Floors can be repaired. Spell out exactly how in purchase contract. I would be more concerned if this is an on going problem with slide tearing floor. Does it still rub on the floor?

I have a neighbor, that is a small RV dealer, along with his truck stop fuel, and convenience store.

He showed me a couple of new trailers on his lot, that had new vinyl flooring put in. They had cracked over the cold winter. The factory supplied the new flooring, and a pro did the work, at a cost of about $400 per trailer(labor). The pro cut the old vinyl out, and added matching quarter round to the new.

I did not even notice it, until he told me!

Depending on the pattern of the flooring they may just be able to cut and patch it. We had our floor crack last winter and that's what the manufacturer did. Can't find the seams trying and has held up fine....so far.

I hated the flooring that came in the trailer. They generally put in the cheapest they can purchase. Although it was not damaged, I had a professional flooring installer replace it with a better quality sheet vinyl flooring. The upgrade looks great. The reason I had it installed by a professional flooring installer is that I just did not trust the abilities of the techs at the RV dealership. They are often good at what they do, but with all the difficult angles and cut in's this was a job for the pro's. I did not remove the cabinets to do the install. You would be very impressed by the install. You would think it was original, except the quality of the vinyl is definitely superior. Perhaps the dealer would offer a credit and you can get the replacement done yourself.

My neighbor had a new trailer that went in for slide work, when he got it back it had a hole in front of the entertainment center. The fix by the dealer was cut a big square and glue in a piece. Said neighbor having installed many a kitchen floor for HD refused the fix, wanting a whole new floor. After much hassle with both the dealer and the manufacturer he brought the trailer to the factory in Indiana, from Ma. For 3 days the trailer was gutted and a new floor was replaced along with the slide being removed and replaced which the dealer completely screwed up.

So the real fix for the floor is to replace it, after removing ALL the cabinetry etc. What's the chances of a dealer being able to do such? They'll probably want to piece it, which may look okay but probably will not stay that way.
