Tires

Before you all jump on me abut inflation and weight, etc. I always check my tires and make sure they are aired up to 95 lbs (as called for)...Well, this weekend, one of my Chinese tire bombs blew on me on the way home from a trip. The tires are 235 85 R 16. I am looking at the Endurance. Weird thing is that the OEM tires say load range F and Endurance are E. When I look at inflation rates per Goodyear, they say I can hit the same rating by airing up to 95 lbs or 100 even though tires say 80lbs. So are people still happy with Endurance? My only requirement is tires made in North America, preferably the USA.

GY told me they don't make a tire that will work. They could not say why their inflation chart shows 95 and 110lbs of air pressure. I believe my trailer has a GVWR of 15K with over 2500 lbs of that being cargo capacity. I am going to order the Sailuns an have them mounted by Discount Tire. I will have to install them because there is no way I can maneuver my rig thru their parking lot. I think I will do 2 at a time and actually only have one tire jacked up at a time. I will use the spare to keep 3 wheels on the ground at a time....not sure if I NEED to do that but I feel more comfortable having only one at a time jacked up.

Goodyear G614,s with their 3750 rating donโ€™t meet the specs for a lot of fifth wheels , one of the many reasons , why so many go to the higher quality , higher rated Saliun S637โ€™s . Simply 3750 just doesnโ€™t get it done . Fact is Goodyear just doesnโ€™t have an E or G rated tire that is rated for these big fifth wheels .

If youโ€™ve had a blowout, you wonโ€™t be sorry going up to Gโ€™s. As others have said, Sailuns are a very good tire at a reasonable price. I put some on my HitchHiker 5yrs ago, and earlier this year just put them on my Vilano. Iโ€™ve been very happy with them on ~16k lb 5ers

Campinfan, the ENDURANCE chart says "E" next to the 80psi rating of 3,640#. Is that not enough capacity for your load? How bout the "G", 110psi at 3,750#.

I do believe CapriRacer is correct, not that you others are not, but I just got off the phone with GY. Endurance is E rated and they could not explain why their inflation chart showed the tires with a higher rating at 95 and 110 lbs. Now I have to see who can install these for me. I really do not want to pull two off at a time or so and take them in to be mounted.

He is correct, that weight chart is most likely for the G or H rated tires. Sailun also had that same weight chart. I run mine just slightly under max inflation of 110 psi.

As said on a previous thread ,Goodyear just doesn't have an adequate tire in E, and G that meet the weight ratings of some of the heavier fifth wheels. Just go Sailun , you will thank everyone that advises to do so, and you sleep well at night knowing you got the BEST G rated tire on the market.

I don't recall the weight of your trailer? Can you go with an LT tire? This gives you more choices and great option if your trailer is under 12,000 lbs on the tires.

You need a Load Range F (max pressure = 95 psi!) not a Load Range E (max pressure = 80 psi!).

What that means is you can't use the Goodyear Endurance.

This may also mean you can't use any tires made in the US.

You grossly over inflated your tires. Do not inflate to the max of the tire as you are not pulling max weight trailer. If you pulled 26,000 lbs. then inflate to 120. A G tire with a 12,000 trailer only needs 80 to 85 lbs., not 120.

Now all the expert tire people, who cannot use a cell phone, will give you advice.

Just bought the endurance tires. Read the specs on the weight rating and your should be good. Mine are 3,400 a tire, which times 4 adds up to the gvrw of my fifth wheel..

Understand load ratings. G rated tires are what I finally put on my 5th wheel trailer after a couple of blowouts.

Iโ€™m thinking you are reading something wrong. Give GY a call.

I looked and my rims say 110 lbs. 18-22k miles will be more than I need. I would probably replace in the 5-6 year mark and the endurance, although saying 80 lbs of air and an E rating, will go to the 3960 mark with 95 lbs and 4400 lbs with 110 lbs of air.

F load range = 95 psi
G load range = 110 psi.
Most likely your wheels are 110 psi rated and can use the 110 psi if needed. Best to find out though...you sure don't want to over pressure a wheel. I've seen load F tires on my equipment trailers go to 104-106 psi at interstate speeds and carrying a load.
The Endurance has been out for over 3 years now and so far there has been very few complaints ...like in tread separation.
If it matters they have only 8/32nds of tread depth which means 1/4" of usable tread depth. Its a poly carcass tire and good for maybe 18k-22k miles before time for replacement.

Now if your the type of rv trailer owner who expects 40k-60k miles in a 7-8 year period then the commercial grade all steel ply carcass Sailun S637 ST235/80-16 G at 4080 lbs capacity is at the top in this class tire.

Check out prices on the internet for each and figure how often you will need replacements.
