- jffnkrnExploreri have the white grease spray that works well to apply to the internal moving parts, just a spray film on it works well. i also have the plastic/nylon disk so no grease on the plate. I also got a hitch cover on Amazon with blemish for $20 bucks. keeps dirt and crud out and off. Dirt is not good for it as we know, and WD-40 may attract dirt etc. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

- Garry_GayleExplorerBeen using this for years on my pin Reese
- Happy_ProspectoExplorerOn the King Pin I use the grease that is in the grease gun. I do not believe it really matters what kind of grease it is, it ain't going on a Nuclear Submarine.
- JIMNLINExplorer IIIjust a dab of high pressure red grease in the jaw contact area just like a OTR rig
- christopherglenExplorerMy basic rule for anything that rubs: If it is rusty, paint it. If it is shiny, lube it. I use White lithium grease on kingpins, hitch balls, equalizers, slide parts (not the rams), pretty much all zerc's...
- stickdogExplorerI use white lithium spray on the king pin as recommended by the hitch manufacture and grease the fittings on the hitch as recommended. Also use the teflon disk on the bearing surface it stays cleaner that way and so do I.
- lc0338ExplorerWhite lithium grease is the best "metal to metal" lubricant and I understand it is good for "metal to plastic" as well. You can get it in aerosol spray can. I spray my gooseneck ball often.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII use the teflon lube plate so that I don't have to grease pin box plate or 5th wheel hitch plate.
But I do put a film of grease on king pin, hitch jaws and all pivot points/metal to metal contact within hitch.
On king pin/hitch jaws....a green grease. Have no idea what it is. Friend gave me a large tube few years ago. Goes a long way...thin film and lasts
Pivots/contact points...dry spray on graphite lube - TXicemanExplorer IIWD40 is not a lubricant in any way shape or form. WD is for water dispersant.
