Towing a Toy Hauler with a F150 Ecoboost

This sounds like a workhorse of a truck. What is the payload capacity of it?

IS that a super cab or super crew? Wheelbase? Max tow? That MXT 312 is a very nice outfit.

If you think the performance of that truck is impressive, imagine having twice the torque in a diesel.
As for the trailer your looking at, I would want a heavier truck with better tires, bigger brakes and an exhaust brake but that's just me.
I think you can pull it OK.

I know a big diesel can pull anything, but they were way too much for my income.
Trying to live well in a loaded Lariet, but I'm maxed out on this baby.

According to GM the GVWR of my 2500HD with the Duramax is 9200. Something isn't adding up here. Here is the tow guide for your truck:

I don't care what mfg. states as tow rating.....that's a magical marketing number with fine print*****

What can a truck 'Carry' (as in actual available payload)

You stated trucks weighs 5400# ( what does that include??? )
You stated trucks GVWR is 7200#
So that leaves you 1800#.......based on what???

You see that number is the difference between the 5400# & 7200#
Now you need to Subtract from that number everything that will be in the truck when you get ready to go camping (passengers, any stuff in cab, any stuff in plus 200# for 5th wheel hitch)
So just for an example: passengers and stuff in cab (bags, things in console, door pockets, under seat etc.) 200# plus hitch 200#---that's 400# off of that 1800#
Now you're down to 1400# and that is 'assuming' truck actually weighs 5400#

So that means a 'wet' pin weight (trailer loaded camp ready) of 1400# which would roughly be a GVWR trailer around 7000# (20% of trailer GVWR----1400#)

As you stated the KZ weighs in at 6800* and can add on another 2500# so that means it has a GVWR of 9300#. Now starting at 6800# and you load just the motorcycle (800# maybe more??) 7600# and you haven't even put a toothbrush in it let alone food, water, towels, shorts, shoes, linen, box of kleenex!!!!

Dang what happened to that 9200# Tow rating (wet pin would be closer to 1850#)

Course what you can 'carry' is also dependent on the trucks RAWR and how much weight on rear axle camp ready.
And then there's the trucks rear tires.....what are they rated for MAX Load on sidewall......and again how much weight on rear axle camp ready.

Yes 150 trucks are capable of towing.....but just like any truck whether it be 250/350 (1500/2500/3500) there are limits---real world actual weight numbers and ratings NOT published mfg. MAX Tow ratings, 'dry' weight, unladen hitch weight numbers.

Just run the real numbers and stay within the real capabilities.
Towing will be more fun and safer.......means camping....means more fun for all :B

Your rating sounds about right. Unfortunately We diesel guys take a hit on weight because of our heavy engines.
