Well CJ, her is my take on that upcoming argument. Modern automatics are(1) equal to or exceed mileage from a manual, look at the load and mileage ratings between the two from the manufacturers. Also, some diesels aren't available with a manual trans. (2)I think this would lead one to believe they are as reliable, and I know from personal experience that they take a lot of the driving load off the operator.
Now we can wait for the discussion to why whatever the have is better, lookout for some low level shouting and arm waving.
