We have a 2014 Cedar Creek 34RLSA. Picked it up the 1st week in June and camped it in continuously all summer thru August 21 in Oregon and northern California.
We had 2 issues that required the dealer to repair.
1. After an all day heavy rain we discovered a small leak at the top of the wall and ceiling. The dealer's inspection found the control wire from the AC had been pinched between the roof and AC gasket.
They repaired the seal... and even though it was a small leak they kept our trailer in a garage bay with 2 dehumidifiers inside running for 3 days to insure the interior was completely dry.
2. The brakes were not providing the power I expected. The dealer inspected and found 2 of the wheels were over greased either at the factory or by the dealer when they did their pre-delivery preparation. The excess grease had leaked into the brake drums. A common problem when bearing buddies are over greased.
We contacted Dexter and they 2nd day shipped 4 new complete wheel and brake assemblies to the dealer... all 4 wheel assemblies were replpaced.
The dealer we purchased from is excellent. They provided extremely fast service and exceeded my expectations.
However; I was very disappointed when we discovered the leak in our brand new $50k 5th wheel and probably would have returned it or exchanged it for a new unit if Cedar Creek would have approved it... but that was not an option. I was reassured (in writing) by Cedar Creek they would repair any water damage as a result of the AC gasket leak for as long as I owned the trailer.
Given the construction methods CC uses... the all aluminum frame with no laminated walls, ceiling or floor... I'm reasonably confident the leak will not cause future problems.
http://www.forestriverinc.com/FifthWheels/CedarCreek/default.aspx?page=downloadsBesides these 2 issues we are very pleased with our CC. The interior construction... cabinets, drawers, counter tops, trim etc. is considerably better than many other brands near the same price range.
The exterior components (roof, walls, windows) is very similar to other brands in the same price range. With the exception of the storage doors... the CC doors are thicker and more stout than most.
The LED lighting throughout the camper is great. There are a few standard light fixtures in our model ( pendant lights over the island and the dining table ceiling light) that look good but are of poor quality.
The plumbing and fixtures are pretty good... again better than most. When you inspect the routing and how its installed it appears CC pays more attention to detail and is less sloppy than other manufacturers. The Docking Station is well laid out and deigned to allow easy winterization.
We ordered ours with 6 point leveling, dual pane windows, convection oven and Trailair pin box. We deleted the carpet in the living room and replaced with vinyl flooring. We found the single ducted AC to adequately cool the trailer in even 90 degree plus weather.
We looked at several 5th wheels including DRV Mobile Suites. They are beautiful trailers and are no doubt better constructed than the CCs... but they are also much much more expensive. I believe most DRVs are built to order where the CCs are mass produced and probably prone to more quality control issues than the DRVs. If we were fulltimers (and could afford it) we might have considered a DRV Tradition... however for our needs we could not justify near double the price for a very similar product.
Our dealer sold Silverbacks, Cedar Creeks, and Lifestyle 5th wheels... and freely admitted the quality control in the RV industry is abysmal. They told us no matter what brand we bought you can expect some problems to occur.
To summarize... if we could afford it, we would buy a DRV MS, but for the money you can't beat the Cedar Creeks.
