2006 Chevy here. No issue with filler tube size at truck islands. Big chain truck stops usually cost more. The only problem I can ever recall at a truck stop was caused by a thoughtless RVer who did not pull forward far enough at a busy stop after filling.
Cheaper fuel can often be found less than a half mile further from a highway exit. Some vehicular gymnastics might be needed to get into & out of the smaller stations. If we can we buy fuel when we do not have the trailer.
More problems are caused by car drivers using the diesel/gas islands instead of gas only islands & wandering off inside leaving the car blocking the diesel pump.

Driving around empty looking for fuel is not my idea of saving $. Life is too short to worry about a few $ here and there IMHO.

The large diesel nozzles fit my 2002 Ford F250 and fit my 2016 Ram CTD just fine. The thing to watch out for is trying to fill too fast so it doesn't back up and make a mess on the pavement.:E

Most pumps for trucks at truck stops have a larger diameter nozzle to accommodate larger volume of fuel to fill tank faster so donโt use those as the nozzle wonโt fit in your fill inlet. Most truck stops have an RV or pickup island or at the auto pumps most diesel pumps are on the outside island
