But nothing beats a true fifth wheel hitch for ease of hookup, get it within about 1 inch side-to-side and back under the pin. If the truck has no hitch setup and you want a clean bed, then there are multiple fifth wheel hitches with underbed mounting that provides a clean bed once the hitch is removed.
As a newbie, you won't experience one of the big benefits of fifth wheel towing unless you have a true fifth wheel hitch.
Good advice, I would never put a Goose-neck adapter on a standard 5th Wheel. Many have without issues, but I took vector Algebra in collage and understand too much about rotational forces.
This is about a 34' 5er with a GN adapter, not a lot of strength, and a lot of leverage already in the extended pin box! GVWR of the 5er likely 14,000#

This is the GN hitch on our 2 horse slant load trailer GVWR 10,000#. Do you notice a difference in inherent strength.
