Used Aluminum and Azdel toyhaulers.

Hello everyone.

Come the time of year I spend time looking for a aluminum TH to replace my featherlite. I sold the 24' featherlite TH because it was to big to escape the camp grounds and been there done that, but I have yet to find the 7x16-18' narrow track cargo I want to convert and haven't ordered custom (Jensen Trailers) yet because I'm cheap, and there's plenty of used units and motivated sellers out there. My TV is a 97 cummins 2500 and I'm OK with a big toyhauler for now. Preferably a goose neck.

I had so many water leaks in my featherlite, thank god it was built mostly out of aluminum! So my motto is, "it's not if they leak, but when" so aluminum construction is a must, but there are other manufactures who make aluminum toy haulers I should consider.

Can I ask the group to help me with my search words?

Featherlite
Sundowner
ATC
Livin'lite

I'm not very familiar with aluminum TH's with fiberglass exteriors. I would be OK with a fiberglass exterior as long as it was adhered to Azdel and all studs joists and truss's were aluminum and no wooden bottom plates like Ive seen..

I think the NO-BO 19.1 is aluminum TH with azdel, but I'm not sure..

Anyone? Thanks!
  • I just learned "Rockwood uses all aluminum skeleton work, but will stuff the skeleton with wood where heavy bolts are used (such as floor to sidewall lag bolts) to avoid crushing the studs with their high powered air tools.."

That's almost as stupid as luan over aluminum studs imo. KZ

These companies cut important corners, but can still claim the trailer is built from aluminum..

Shame on these manufactures touting aluminum construction when a block of wood holds the two half's together. Or they still use luan over aluminum like KZ..

Azdel sounds like great material for the exterior, but I'd give the nod to a aluminum or even steel cargo trailer if I could choose.

Here's a list of the manufacturers who use Azdel in their travel trailers.

    Forest River(Flagstaff,Rockwood,R-Pod)
    Coachmen ( Chaparral, Brookstone)

    Lance Campers
    Nexus RV
    Prime Time
    Adrenaline
    Koala
    Winnebago
    Apex RV
    Gulfstream
    Heartland RV
    No Bo (No Boundaries)
    Renegade RV
    Work and Play RV
    nuCamp
    Surveyor
