Using e rated tires as spare

I am getting four new tires that are grated for my camper my question is if they are the same size which they are can I still use the e rated as a spare
  • If the spare has sufficient load capacity -it will technically work.

But -if the take offs are not good enough for use as they were -why would you set up a potential future problem if you get a flat in a remote place....Buy a 5th tire and sell all the take off's on craigslist.

As long as the E spare has the proper load capacity its good to go. However just remember on wet roads the spare has a different tread design/maybe a different pressure rating (80 vs 110 psi)/tire diameter/etc will not have the same "grip" and may slide before the others.
My spare tires on my equipment/boat and RV trailers seldom ever see road service.

    X2 ^^.

x3 plus since my spare is up under the trailer it never sees any direct sun, which does the most damage to rubber so it should last a long time. I do usually rotate it in when I get new rubber, take the newest/best tire as a spare when replacing.

  • I don't rotate my tires as they are wearing fine. The spare is a Chinese May-Pop so it'll remain a spare.

  • There is a school of thought that recommends that the spare be rotated into the mix when the main tires are rotated. That would necessitate that the spare be the same tire as the others.
