Water heater Q

We have a 2002 Montana 2955RL. Don't know the make/model of waterheater. just noticed if I take the outside panel off that there's an on/off switch. What is this for? Currently in off position and everything works fine. Many Thanks

Thanks. Does it then use elect thus saving on propane?

Electric...yes, but only AC (shore power). It will not heat water using DC only (batteries).
  • That's exactly what it does but you have to shut off the propane by pushing the button/rocker switch inside your trailer to off. You can use both together for faster recovery but you have to make sure that water is in the tank when you turn the electric on or the element will burn out real fast. On edit, you have to be hooked up to electric or have a gen set big enough to handle the electric element in the tank when you turn it on.
  • Thanks. It is in lower left corner. Currently in off position(prob from when it was winterized last fall). Never switched it back. So what does it do when water is in tank and turned on? Does it then use elect thus saving on propane?
  • If it is in the lower left corner, it is likely the switch for the electric element for the WH.

You want to turn this to off, when there is no water in the heater.
