Waxing 5th wheel

I am wanting to wash and wax our 5th wheel, looking for the best product to use that will not harm the graphics. Want to see what others have had the best luck with that is easy to use and works the best. Looking for something that will not fade the graphics or cause them to crack

Just had my wife wax the 5'er with McGuires RV/Marine wax,and it took her all day to do the job, she does an excellent job and McGuires makes the rig shine. She is getting older and slowing down some but it is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of trailer maintenance as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are overly sensitive, and thereโ€™s nothing worse than an oversensitive woman.

She had to take a break when she was only half-finished washing and waxing the 5th Wheel. I tried not to make a scene. Iโ€™m a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me, too.

I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support her. Iโ€™m not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging girlfriend or wife because of this post, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile.

Many swear by Zep floor polish--available at Home Depot. I've seen trailers with Zep on it, and they really shine.

I would also think any good non-abrasive car polish would do a fine job.

We have our 5th wheel waxed every year at our Florida lot. A company does a wash, wax, detail for 175.00 and worth every dollar. It looks great. Nice and shinny.

X2 Now have Meguiars #50 on the front cap and Nufinish on the rear as a trial and the front is holding up better. Will switch to Meguiars Flagship when I run out of #50.

I've been using Wolfgang paint sealant. It's outstanding and lasts many months, but is kind of spendy. I'm probably going to switch over to nu finish next season.

My wife helped me wet sand ours (1000grit). It was a repo unit and had been neglected, to say the least. At 38" long, that was a lot of wet sanding and wheeling!

I second the recommendation of Meguiar's M6332 Flagship Premium Marine Wax. Our unit is black gelcoat, this product is the best we have tried.

As for graphics ours were so badly faded and curled from the sun, I peeled them all off. If they were still on, I would not hesitate to wax right over them with the Meguiar's.

Actually there is nothing wrong with the DW geting involved with the ouside chores. Our annual refit is underway with the installation of the Correct Track system in addition to the annual waxing.

'She who must be obeyed' has been right there handing tools, operating jacks & doing the waxing, that can be reached from the ground, while I do the top half on scaffolding. Her help has cut the required boatyard time needed by days. More time for the road.

We use Nufinish over everything. So far it has worked great.
It is a polish - not a wax and has no petroleum distillates to harm the decals.

I used Nu Finnish on mine a year ago and it still looks good & beads water off, even after I hauled it across the country and back last winter. Very easy to put on as well.

We use Turtle Wash and wax does a great job, have used it on the last 2 5er's and it cleans and waxes at the same time. Happy Camping

Wash the entire unit, then get a good coat of wax on the front cap at minimum as it takes the most abuse. I hit the front cap a few times a year and it makes bug cleanup easier. The entire rig is lucky if I hit it with wax once a year.

Don't forget the roof needs attention from time to time as well. It never ends...
