Replacing the 245/75/16 tires on my 2005 Duramax. I tow a fifth wheeler with a 1700# tongue weight. I am looking to replace the narrow factory wheels (if necessary). What is your opinion on the best tire for towing with this rig?

I have no idea which one is best, I currently use the Nitto Dura Grappler and I am pleased with them but I've rarely had a problem with any I've used.

Upgraded from 245's to 265 Michelins, like others, I am very happy.

OEM on my 2013 Chevy 2500-Although a different size. 25,000 and down to the wear bars. Would be O,K., IMO, for around town but not towing.

Talk to Michelin. The LTX series has a 60k mileage warranty.

Mine actually have a 70000 mile warranty, or 5 years, whichever comes first. And that is the issue for me. I am not a high mileage driver so my warranty will run out on time before miles. And the tires will not get the mileage that they advertise so I am unsure what is "the best" tire in my situation.

I've always run Michelins on my vehicles when the OEM tires need replacement. On my 2016 Ram, though, I had the 2000 mile old Michelin LTX M/S2 tires from the 2011 Ram swapped over to the 2016 before I took delivery of the new truck.

Have the Cooper Discovery HT3. Have been pleased with them and due for their rotation. Came recommended by some on this forum. If you are looking for mileage warranty, be very careful/ Some LT tires come with little or no mileage warranty. Cooper warrants for 50,000 miles.

All I've run on any vehicle for the last 45 years are Michelin tires. Currently have Defenders on my 2013 F350 dually.

Also trashed the factory shocks when the truck was 1 month old and put on 4 Bilsteins (lifetime replacement warranty).

At this point I wish I knew. The OEM Continentals lasted 27000 miles. The replacement Michelins LTX's have 25000 miles on 2 and the other 2 have less as both are replacements for road hazard failures. And the 2 originals have sidewall cracking but the dealer says they are okay ?? They will not make it to 50000 miles even if the sidewalls last. Don't know what will be next so I'll be watching this.

Have you checked the date codes on your tires? It sounds like they may have given you some that had been sitting on the rack for several years...

Tires were less the 6 months old when purchased. Age is not the problem.

Tried the Goodyear Kevlar on my dually and they never could get the roughness out. Changed to Michelins and nice and smooth.

The OEM Continentals on mine were replaced at 17k due to tread separation on 2 of them. I replaced with Michelin LTX and they were replaced at 66k with a larger tire (65 to 70 cross section) for more capacity, Michelin Defender LTX. When replaced they still had 7/32nd of tread left. I don't know what size tires you have but these are 18". I have seen some with weather cracking but they were 17". Maybe a bad batch? I had no weather cracking over 4 yrs.

My '02 D'max has 265's on it. You pick up about 800 lbs' tire capacity. After having 6 of 8 BFG Long Trail and Rugged Trail TA's separate on me in 8 years, I'm now trying my first ever set of Cooper Discoverers. I do like a bit of an aggressive tread because I do go off-road some. I know I pay for it with a slight drop in mileage. The Coopers are =very= quiet and ride nice, even at 80 psi. The only thing I've noticed about them is that they want to follow road seams more than the BFGs did. Don't know if it's because they're new or just the design.

Has anyone tried Firestone Transforce?

I have the Transforce HT on my 2013 Ram 3500 SRW in 18" size. we tow a wildcat 337FB which is in the neighborhood of 12k lbs. I now have 37k miles on the tires, which have only been rotated 1x and they are doing ok. I do need to rotate them again (and more frequently i know!). I would consider them again but only if the cost difference of the Michelin or Goodyear tires is significant. I have over 10k miles in the past 2 years towing this camper with this truck.
