Forum Discussion
- hussbussExplorerGood posts so far. Have to agree with most of the comments. I have been on here about 8 or 9 years and don't post unless its something I know about. I check on RV.net at least every day during the winter months. Its already here in Wisconsin with 2 snow falls in October. I always enjoyed Dutchman Sports posts and also Old Biscuits as well. Lots of great people on here as well as some real jerks. Just delete the bad ones and move on. I have been camping/Rving for over 50 plus years and still enjoy it. Hope to get a few more in yet. Have fun and enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff.
- Curly2001Explorer IIThis was good for general questions and to a point some more specific regarding coach and tow vehicle manufacturing issues/problems. Got some good tire info from here as well as general maintenance tips, too. Hated to see the usual gas/diesel truck fights. I suppose as winter visitors come south we may see more banter here.
Curly - patnchrisExplorerBeen a few years since I have posted anything, I actually had a lot of real world experience to share. Started camping in 1971 and have owned or restored every type of rv out there.
The problem I had was "know it alls" that would argue and name call with anything that wasn't their idea. They could search the internet and provide links to opinion blogs that they used to provide "facts" here. If you disagreed with them, they would stalk you on different posts and try to discredit you, name call, and even send nasty private messages to your friends about you. You could report them to the moderators and they could get banned, but within a week they were back, posting under a different username.
This got bad enough that many actually started their own forum boards and poached member away from here. Most of them failed with the growth of social media, but the damage was already done.
After being away for a few years, and then returning, I have found I can get better information from dealing with mfg. web pages, directly. - laknoxNomad

I just learn to ignore the bashers and grow thicker skin, it's easy to hide behind the keyboards typing snarky comments and i'll admit I threw a few out there as well. And who cares if a question has been asked a million times, every time asked we may learn a little more and if it bothers you that it's been asked again simply ignore the post.

Same with me, Dan, which I learned to do back in the BBS and dial-up days. Back then, we at least had kill filters, but a board-style site doesn't allow that. I've been on here for about 11 years and, AFAIK, the board software hasn't changed. As I've said several times recently, it's time for Emperor Marcus to cut loose with 30 seconds' profits and pony up for a new version or a whole new package.

I think a lot of folks are migrating over to group or pages on FaceBook and Instagram.

I know I'm migrating to message boards that actually work. The number of error messages and general problems here is ridiculous.
For example?
Lyle
Look at 5th Wheels, all the various manufacturers group...
Ken
Well, I =am= on the KZ forum, but that's specific to KZ brands. RV.net is more generic, dealing with all brands and the common issues, good and bad.

I was asking for examples of boards that "actually work".
Lyle - MFLNomad IIHate to jinx myself, but I've had no problems for a long while, months at least, back when issue first surfaced.
Jerry - fj12ryderExplorer IIIMost of the problems seem to be fixed, I've had no issues for a week or so, and there were lots of problems before that. I don't believe it was a user based problem, but rather on the server side. I tried many of the "fixes" that were recommended, and some worked a little, some not at all. The problems that people are having now may indeed be user based now.

Anyone who wishes to try this - just download firefox, and install addons noScript and Adblockplus. You will have to allow scripts in noScript by clicking in the upper right corner - but try it. Works for me - not luck, but perseverance. Issues? PM me or reply to the thread - I'll help.2012Coleman wrote:
Lucky for you, but many if not most of us do.
I don't get the issues many are stating they have - I personally don't have an issue with this forum layout or presentation. I use ad and script blocking addons on firefox. People should experiment with that rather than post the 50th time about how the software sucks.
I don't think it's reasonable for people to have to change their browsers or operating systems because of the myriad problems this forum can't seem to fix. Change the portal they use.. yeah, but don't expect much more than that.
I got a Service Unavailable error just posting this.
Who's the #1 troll?
Also, follow these directions. Stop being a part of that "Us" group. I use RV.net - works great for me - with the exception of the notify mod link. no big deal, if I need to talk to a mod, I know who they are and can PM them. - HammerboyExplorer
