My 5th wheel needs washed and waxed. We purchased it brand new last June took only one trip due to my poor health and then stored it underground in a mine for the winter. It is still pretty clean but needs a quick wash.I cannot perform the work as I suffered 2 small strokes and ladders are no longer allowed. Plus I just do not have the strength in me as well.The 5th wheel is a 31 foot standard fiberglass / gelcoat sides.I posted on Craigslist that I was looking for someone to provide this service and my phone started ringing within 20 minutes of the post. I got some off the wall costs of well over $500 and some ridiculos ones of $50 as well. I ruled the low ones out as people who do not know what they are getting into and I don't want them working on my rig.So what is a fair price for a quality job? I will be providing all materials required soap, wax, rags, sponges, ladders, buckets etc. If it matters or not I'm in the south west corner of Pennsylvania.Thanks!Dave

There are several outfits in and around AZ and CA that have there portable "HOT CLEAN" pressure washers and cruise around the snowbird RV spots all winter long. On average they charge around $2.00/ft of RV. That is just for a complete wash, including the roof. They work fast and for cash only. A wax is at extra cost and you would have to negotiate a price for that service. If you are talking hand waxing and polishing with a buffer you would be looking at a pretty big bill. You could save a few $$ if the workers use a spray on and go wax. We had our 35ft Cougar washed for $70.00. There were two young fellas and they were fast, efficient, friendly and did an amazing job.Good luck with your search for workers.Cheers!Mike

I haven’t done the 5er yet but wash and wax of my 16’ cabover used to cost me $150 for reference.

Just left Myrtle Beach, the portable service there quoted me $100 cash to pressure wash my 40 footer, including roof. Just FYI

Had my 34' 5th wheel washed & waxed at our Florida campground for $11/foot = $374. It's well worth it because I don't want to wax it, too much intense labor. I can wash it and do quite often though.

The washing is the easy part. Does not take much time at all. The waxing is the time taker. DW & I need 2 days to do the job properly. About 26 hours labour

I use a pressure washer all the time, just don't use it with full power. That wouldn't be any different than a car wash. The only issue I've had is not being able to keep it from water spotting on the rinse until this year, purchased a water deionizer to run the rinse water through. I had asked a local cleaning outfit that cleans cars on car lots and they told me $100 to wash it and if I wanted a paint sealer put on then I'd be looking at around $700.

Well, finally got a hold of the guy- he was and still is on vacation. Anyway, he quoted me $120.00 to detail my truck and RV. I told him I'd send pics and he needs to reconsider his price. I don't mind getting a good deal, but eegads- I know that's too cheap. He saw the pics and agreed- he'll be out when he gets back. And as I requested, it will be Maguires paste wax.

All of these are completed onsite where we are camped:
In the RGV, $130 will get the RV Washed, Including the Roof and a "wipe off" wax job.
In Houston TX a slightly better more detailed washing not including the roof was $150 a few years ago.
In FL a few years ago just a wash was $175.

OP here,

It took two of them about 7 hours to complete the job and I must say the 5th wheel looks like new! I think it was worth the $150 as our 5th wheel has some protection on it. They even agreed to come back and put a 2nd coat on the nose cap as the Rejex says to wait 12 to 14 hours.

My days of washing and waxing are now behind me as the last stroke has left me pretty weak on my left side and ladders are not my friend.

For those that suggested a mobile service I found 2 in my area and both were well over $400. The Craigslist post under gigs worked out pretty well as I had almost 20 phone calls in two hours. While the first guy failed to show I did even better hiring the 2 man crew!

I'm glad we got it done yesterday as today it is currently 34 degrees here. Will summer ever get here?

The first thing that came to mind when seeing those pictures of those kids with the wash mitts was how often (if ever) were those mitts rinsed out and the water changed out or was all that trapped grit from everyone’s other cars previously washed being ground into the paint of the truck. I’d of given them $10 NOT to wash my truck.

While in south Texas last winter, there were a number of mobile wash units that would charge $10 a foot for a wash AND wax. Plus, they did nice work.
