Just double/triple towed for the first time this last week. 4 adults in cab with full tank. Went to AZ Bike week.
If I'm reading that correctly, the front axle is 5780 and the rear axle is 9860.
Does that not mean that the rear axle exceeds the GAWR of 9750 by 110 and the GVWR of 14000 by 1640?
I could be wrong, but it appears the trailer may be exceeding the GVWR and GAWR too.
Too bad you didn't weigh your truck alone. You could have obtained a full 13-point weight safety report at the Fifth Wheel Street website.
Yes I am over 110# on my rear axle, remove the two passengers I would be at the RAWR. Not too worried about the 110# since I have lots of capacity left on the rear tires. I am within all other weights that actually matter.
GVWR of 14K is just a number to keep the truck in Class 3 for licensing and insurance purposes. Just take my factory front axle weight for example of about 5,200# +- and add the RAWR of 9,750#, wala I am magically OVER the 14K number by 950#.
For me to be "legal" I just need 16K tonnage on my truck.
My "average" hand calc mileage was 8.3 traveling from Palm Springs, CA to Scottsdale, AZ and back. I towed 60 in CA and 65-67 in AZ. If it were not for the ST MC trailer tires I would have towed 75 in AZ.
The RV is "rated at 21K and actually weighs 23K. I changed out the kingpin bolts to large 3/4" frame bolts. I had MORryde look my suspension over when they did my 3" risers and they said I was well within their specs even tho I have 17,500# + on the RV axles.
DRV rates their RV's by the kingpin bolts.
