Where do your pets ride?

We have been RV'ing for over ten years. With our "C's" and the "A" we have allways had the pets ride with us in the RV. Now, getting ready for the fifth wheel a question has come up, do your pets ride in the TV or back in the fifth wheel when on the road?

Never in the 5er, they are family and ride with us in the truck. Yes it got a little tight with 2 kids & 2 big dogs, but they made it work. Misty likes to hang out the rear window and look around.

Ours ride in back of our double cab. the rear seats fold up so the two of them lay on the floor. they love it + know they are going camping!

In the truck, on the floorboard behind the front seat. The fifth-wheel would be pretty cramped with all the slides in - the only place she could be would be the bathroom or half of the bedroom. And it would be hot. I don't think she would be very happy back there. Plus, we stop often and stretch our legs.

Me and the wife just recently started taking our new kitten with us. We just returned from a week long trip to Wisconsin with him and he was great! He rides in the truck with us and likes to sit on the center console and look around. The people working the Tri-state toll way loved to see him when we would stop to pay our tolls. We thought about trying him in the 5er but it get's too hot for me so I know it's too hot for him.

Hmm, some interesting answers. I would never have thought anyone would leave a pet loose in the trailer while underway. Thinking about it now I guess I can possibly see cats doing quite well but I just don't buy it for dogs. Such different animals. Having spent my career working with animals I would disagree with the practice for dogs.

My wife tried it once for 2 miles and reported a very bumpy and disorienting ride.

Our little girl stays quite comfortable in the back seat of the crew cab, harnessed in to her car seat. It's also convenient if we have to get out at a stop, we just leave the old diesel running with the A/C on for her.

Our 2 Collies always ride in the back seat of our TV in air conditioned comfort on their special platform made from 3/8 inch siding that covers the entire seat and leg room area and butts up to front seat backs and console.Four legs support the platform with storage room underneath.

It's covered with carpet topped with foam rubber and a double bed thick comforter,very comfortable and more than enough room for 2 full size Collies.Our Collie girl likes to lay her head on the console and snooze while traveling.

We have a TC. Our two dogs ride in the truck. I specially ordered my F350 Lariat crew cab with the front console delete option to get seating for six. Our Scottish Terrier rides up front; our Golden Retriever in the back.

My mini Schnauzer rides on the center console, she likes to watch traffic.

Queensland heeler rides in the back seat of a crew cab with the kids and we let him through the back window on top of the toolbox when he feels like getting some air or we make a stop.

95% of the time banjo (my dog)(105 lbs) is in the back seat of the pick-up.

the other time he in the travel trailer. but only for a short trip 1hr or less.
when the grandkids travel with us. he goes to sleep after a few Mins of riding.

I bought a crew cab so the Collies could ride in the truck. Around here the 5er would be way to hot for them without running the generator and A/C. They are great travelers, they lay down and sleep.
