AZ RV lot with a casita/small living building

We are state park people, so we have not experienced the upscale long term RV park scene. We have our house for sale and don't want to buy a new one right away when it sells. We will buy another house, but not for the first year or so, until some health things with older relatives become more clear. But we don't want to FT per se. While we figure out what we want to do, I was thinking we might RENT a roomy lot with a casita or something on it. We only have a small Class C. Brand new, but small. We would not want to FT in it, but if we had a basecamp with our own building with a real bathroom, and a living room for lounging around with a little elbow room, we could probably do that for a year. We would bail out in the summer, even if we had to keep paying the rent.

I'm sure you can buy such a lot. But are the places to rent something like that? Suggestions for specific developments? Is there a term for these, that I can search on?

The picture you posted was from Retama Village in Mission, TX. It's possible to use the casita in the rental. However, there are many RV lots for rent in other places where you won't be allowed to use the casita - you will only be able to use the lot. Good luck!

Texas might be good for winter but you wouldn't want to stay there in the summer.

For summer you might consider the White Mountains of Arizona. Here is one place where you could rent a Park Model trailer:

Venture In in Show Low is another. It would be ideal for summer.

Lots of places all over the Mesa/Apache Junction area that might have what you want. Several at our park (where we have a Park Model for the winter months) are now available for year long leases and they allow a storage shed to be put on them. Lots of snowbirds leave rigs on the lots if they don't go the Park Model route. Also some places have RV lots for sale and you can put sheds on them then park for the winter. A lot of people start that way and then eventually put a Park Model on.

Very common arrangement in Arizona. A great place to be in winter. Yuma and a few other places are full of snow birds. A lot of the people are well past retirement age, but they have fun.

I also suggest you look at Happy Trails in Surprise, AZ. A number of lot owners rent their lots. The lots range from just concrete pads to fully shaded RV parking with a storage unit and a casita. Happy Trails has great facilities. You can rent a lot using the realty or through a private owner. Here are some links:

AS RCMAN46 posted, there are hundreds of this type of private lots for rent in the Foothills in Yuma. Go to Yuma Craigs List rentals and many are listed there. Also the whitesheets.com has some. Driving on Foothills Blvd you will see many signs for these lots.

RCman, never been to Yuma. For now I was thinking greater PHX area, but you never know.

I found a place in the RGV that is exactly what I'm talking about. So it's a start. That's where the blog I linked above is based.
