All our income is electronically deposited. What is the best financial institution to use to obtain cash without ATM charges while traveling across the USA. Thank you.
You mean in small towns where there just wasn't enough traffic for BOA to keep it open. Banks open and close all of the time in areas depending upon whether there is enough business for them. And we found BOA branches in small towns all over western Washington and western Oregon.
We have been with Bank of America for a long time and now they have clsoed many of their locations all over the west. Now the old locations are now Washingtion Mutual. Not happy with all that, to be sure. But as I have atuo payment and deposits don't wnat to change all that. I now when I get a check sent to me use their BofA app to take a picture of it so it can be deposited. I had a hard time making the app work but found when I place the check in full sun light the smartphone picture would take to make it work. So now don't need to be near a BofA bank anymore. When I want cash I visit Walmart and get $100 at a crack.
Consider using USAA banking services. If you weren't, if a family member was with the armed services, you could join. You don't need to go to a physical bank anymore for complete banking services. Per your post, no ATM charges either.
We stayed with a credit union in our old home area, just couldn't part with them after so many years. We did open a free checking/savings account at PNC. But we are like most others and use Walmart and other stores to get extra cash when needed. It is rare that we ever use an ATM.
I switched to CapitalOne 360 banking, totally online. (Thanks to BOA for closing all the branches in my area.) Lots of free ATMs, you can even get cashiers checks overnighted direct to the payee. You can deposit checks with their smart phone apps.
