Decent Florida full time sites

Full timing in Indiana right now. Ready to plan on a full time site in Florida. I know rates will be higher in Florida but I don't have unlimited funds. Any hidden treasures in Florida worth checking out?

Have you considered south-TX? We wintered for years in Florida, but when we went full time after a forced retirement, south-TX is the BEST bang for your buck! We live here (Rockport, TX) year round now. The fishing and crabbing is fabulous! It does get @$%& Hot in the summer months of July and August, but we plan to travel those months.

We have full-timed in New Port Richey, FL at the Orchid Lake RV
Resort. Great place! The best thing about this park is that is
a "No Dogs Allowed" policy. This means no barking or yapping
uncontrolled animals!

Our goal is to go to various sites and stay from maybe a week to a year. Just feeling out different areas of the country. We just want to get away from midwest winters.
I've been to West Palm in the summer, wow, that's hot. Don't need that much heat.

Florida is the 22nd largest state. It a wide variety of locations to explore.

Campground rates vary from about $350.00 per month to over $2,000.00 depending on location and amenities.

In general, the further south and the closer to either ocean (Atlantic or Gulf) you get, the more expensive the site costs.

I-4 which runs basically east-west across the state is generally accepted as the "frost line" south of that, frost is a rear occurrence in winter.

Before BUYING a site in Florida, I highly recommend that you come down and spend the entire month of July somewhere in the Orlando area. It's extremely hot and humid and rains heavily most every day late in the afternoon for an hour or so in summer. Your AC bills will be extremely high. If you are still in love with Florida after being here for a month during summer, THEN look for a permanent site. Keep in mind that summer starts in April and goes till sometime in October. It will be 90 or so during the day with lows of 70-75 at night.

Florida is a very long state. Keep in mind that northern Florida (above I-4) is not quite as hot as areas in the more southern part of the state. It is also much cooler in the winter. Some of the palm trees that grow in the Ft Myers area will not live if planted in Gainesville because of the cooler winters.

Just to be clear, I love Florida. I lived in the Orlando area for 15 years. I'm in Ft Myers right now BECAUSE IT'S WINTER. Florida is a wonderful fun place to visit in the summer but it's as extreme in summer as Minnesota is in winter.

Do you mean living in a park year-round? If so, you might look into mobile home parks. They sometimes have sites for RVs.

We always loved the Apalachia (sp?) Bay area! It is pretty far north, but very reasonable and great seafood. Google is your friend!
