Full Timers: Anyone make any home made bread or BakedGoods?

I love making my own bread and have never tried it in a camper but other than using a bit more propane I think I'm going to give it a shot? Nothing like the sweet smell of homemade bread in your rig right? I know there are some good books on it out there too. I like "The Bread Bible" by Rose Levy Beranbaum!

I usually dry camp so I make fry bread, on a Colemen stove and griddle, some times on an open fire. Once the bread is made I use it for pizza, or taco/fajita type meals. It also makes a nice desert if you fry it in a pan with butter or olive oil, it bubbles up and sugar and cinnamon sticks to it well. If camping with my GS or other kids I will make the dough and roll it into a long roll then wrap it around the end of a 1 in dia stick and cook it on an open fire. I stuff the inside with jelly. The kids like it. I learned this from some Navajo women in Az. I also learned how to may Bannack from an Ojibway Indian lady in Canada. I used olive oil instead of lard and Splenda instead of sugar and added raisins, it came out good. I don't have a bread machine.

Non extra counter space or equipment needed bread technique. You can make it using most any heat form by reading the comments/notes at the NY Times. Sorry I have a new computer "toy" that came with no instructions so no idea now how to C + P on this thing yet.
Just goggle " Mark Bitman's no knead bread ".

Be sure not to Bern the bread; calibration as well as a like thinking community are your friend(s).

Throw it on the picnic table hooked up to the shore station.

Only down side is everyone that walks by and smells fresh bread baking, wants to know if they can have some when its done. :B

After two years of full timing I couldn't take it any longer and bought a bread maker. Made my first crusty loaf a couple of days ago. We were in heaven. We don't have enough counter space to make bread by hand so the bread maker works for us. My plan today, since it is raining, is to use the dough setting to make pizza crust. I picked up a variety of flours recently in PA and want to test them all.

Just an FYI, our breadmaker is 600W - less than our coffee pot. It will pull 5A on shore power. It pulls about 50A on 12V so its use without shore power will be limited to travel days (alternator pushes 60A) or rainy days when we must run the generator.

Hey you don't have to worry about eating bread or almost anything and being in shape.. you know all you have to do is move that body! It's the aerobic activity that burns fat not so much the food within reason.. When I make bread, I know I have to ride more miles on my bike.. It works!

I picked up one of those bread makers at a sale that I stopped at while on the road. Thought what the heck, new, never been used for a whole 10 bucks worth a try.

Gotta tell you it makes REAL good, home made tasting bread! And so simple to make, 'anyone' can do it. All you do is pick up a box of bread mix made for these bread makers. Throw it in the bread maker and hit the go button. I found Hodgson Mill and Krusteaz to be the best tasting bread mixes

I put it on the picnic table and plug it into the shore station. Sure beats store bought bread hands down. And you don't have to unhook the toad to go buy it!

Wouldn't use it IN the MH though. I'm sure it would not play nice with the ac on at the same time! :W

The couple in the RV traveling along with me to Alaska bake their own bread and rolls in their 5th wheel. The rolls are fantastic and playing hell on my effort to loose weight! I got the recipe though as a reward to myself IF I can get my weight down to where I'd like it. LOL
