Retired Federal Employees & PMB #s - Question!

Em... one of my fellow retires uses his home, which is leased out but he still owns it. His mailing address is a PO Box (vrs PMB) which his kids check.
Another uses his kids home.
A third uses his old address and a PO Box
I guess none of these use PMB, so this is little help.

Our medical provider would not cover us outside of their "coverage area" in western WA. (Tri care under US family health plan). Wife didn't want to change because medical care is great.

We are already in "no income tax" state but license tabs are more expensive than SD. And they have other ways of getting tax $$$.

It is always going to be an ever changing landscape. What worked yesterday won't be acceptable tomorrow. The only thing that remains a constant is the fact that the rules are constantly changing. Best to contact all the applicable agencies and companies to get their positions. It will be too late if the checks stop coming or insurance coverage is denied. The horse's mouth is the only place to look.

I'm state...not federal. But ....a lot of people rent the PMB# from a SD company. You can change to their street address. If your insurance is nationwide, that should satisfy them.

Using commercial mail forwarding with a PMB in Texas, previously used Florida PMB, and the future may bring a South Dakota PMB.

I never use the PMB, I use the # sign for the PMB. If an online form won't allow the # sign, I have used Apt. or just the number. It is also the physical address for all insurances, vehicle registration and DL's
Used BCBS, now GEHA through FEHB, never an issue.

Since using a PMB, have purchased a Motorhome, and 2 autos. Opened accounts with USAA, PenFed, and BOA without a problem. And closed PenFed without a problem.

The IRS, processes all returns through the address. Purchase vehicles, opened bank accounts, obtained new CC.

OPM retiree online service processes any and all actions I take through their website, and send documents to the PMB address.

It just has not been an issue for us since 2000. Total Fulltime about 6 years, and at it again.

Our physical address is a street address with a PMB, so we live in a Box, literally, both stationary and on wheels. :B

TenOC; I opened 2 new bank accounts since 9/11 without a problem. Haven't used an independent investment firm other than the CU for investments.

I like to keep everything as simple as possible using the KISS concept. I was in the business of giving ulcers, not getting them; so I prefer a stress free lifestyle and accomplish it 99.9% of the time. I have retired from giving Ulcers. Tums anyone?:E

I have use the SD address without the PMB for the physical address and added the PMB # for a mailing address a few weeks later -- after the bank account etc is open. (before 9/11).

Now I use APT this seems to work very well and helps the mail forward company sort the mail.

However, Scotrade Brokerage would not open the account. Their computer has flag the 411 N 6th Street, Emery SD 57332 as a "bad" address. So I now use Fidelity Brokerage.

We use Escapees RV Club in Texas for our mail forwarding. We also use Fidelity. We have a PPO supplement to Medicare and for all of those we use the # sign instead of PMB. Escapees gives you a street address unique to you. Everyone's is different. Absolutely no problems in 18 years of use.

I am a retired Dept of Navy federal employee. I used the physical address of the campground where I stayed when I registered to vote. All of our banking is done with the PMB address. Our GEHA insurance is done with the PMB address.

If you get any static, just use the physical address of your campground but also list your PMB as your mailing address.

Been doing it this way since 2001, no problems at all.
