Virtual address/ Mail Forwarding in MT....?

I've been using my parents' address as my home address in MT for 8 years. Been full-timing since then. My parents have moved to Mexico full-time. what are my options if I want to keep registering my vehicles in MT? Do I have to find a permanent address/mail forwarding place in that same county to avoid having to go there in person? For tax reasons (no sales tax) I would like to keep my residency there. I have an internet business.

If I had a friend in another county let me use her address how would that affect things? Would I still need to show up in that county in person to register or could it be done by phone?

I basically need to find a way to renew without having to show up in the state and if that's not possible, my options, as I understand it, are oregon, SD, or Texas, yes?

It's been a very rough year and I really didn't want to have to go north this summer.

Thanks...

If I have to go with another state I'd probably go with Oregon.
  • Oregon is absolutely a no. You have to own property, pay taxes for 5 years, and if you're even a renter you have to keep the vehicles (what?) inside oregon. Is anyone here using Oregon as a full-timer address? (Who isn't from there?) Feel free to PM me.... thanks...
  • I just called the Bend, OR DMV and they told me that a mail forwarding service cannot serve as a physical address. ?
  • Thanks, but no mention of Oregon in there. Anyone using Oregon as their home base? Does my mail service have to be in the same county as I've registered my vehicles? I just called a mail forwarding served that's been in business since the 80's in Oregon and he said he's not sure. And I should set up the mail service before I show up so I need to know if this all has to take place in the same county.
