12 volt tv's for bedroom.

So I go to Fry's with the dimensions that will fit in the available space. I chose a Samsung 22" which they say isn't a 22 inch but a 21 and something

inch, so why not call it a 21 and something inch. Anyway when I go to plug it in I notice it is really a 14 volt tv. I already purchased the inverter so

I hook up the inverter and plug in the 120 plug that plugs into the 14 volt converter that plugs into the tv. So I look at the wife and say "i think

I'm going nuts. She says take it back and get a 120volt tv. I say, why bother at this point. Anyway it works real nice, it sounds good, I have a tv

in the bedroom and a wiring extravaganza inside the closet on a shelf.

I did, and I'm pretty sure you said you were changing out the TV..but then you said you, apparently, weren't.

In the long run you'll be better off with a new, modern TV. They aren't that expensive.

I agree. I have Samsung throughout my home and they work well. Previous owner changed out the front for a Samsung.

I agree, I use a 200 watt modified sine inverter & it runs my 19" Sony along with a Blu-Ray player just fine. Combination Tv's & DVD players are subject to failure, besides why get a DVD when a Blu-Ray plays both media. Also, avoid any TV other than Sony, Samsung, or Vizio. The off brands are pretty much junk. Because this set-up was for my Rv, I purchased a used Sony & Blu-Ray, 200 watt inverter from Ebay, & a dedicated 35amp sealed deep cycle battery, also Ebay. I have a Haier 22" LED. 12v/120 that I bought on Amazon for my last truck camper. Comes with a 12v plug and a cord for 120v. Has it's own inverter built in. It has HDMI, Coaxial, RCA connectors. Eliminates all of the other steps and simply plugs in.

We have the Best Buy house brand "Insignia" 19" TV and it actually runs on 12VDC as noted in an earlier post. I don't know what the allure of Wall Warts (and external Power Bricks) is, but in the case of RVing it plays in our favor. Just get an adapter and plug in.
We found that across the entry-level LCD TV's, Picture Quality was more equal than Sound Quality. A number of inexpensive off-brands had sound that was weak, tinny, or distorted. And we aren't audiophiles, the sound was just poor. Insignia stood above those cheapies, and it took a higher line like Vizio to match it. And they were a much higher price. Insignia's available on sale at $99 and they sometimes have Open Box deals on them. They have the VESA mounting pattern and even come with the metric screws.
