1997 Coleman A/C Trouble

You have a shore power controller somewhere that has decided the two A/Cs are drawing too much power and has disabled the rear one. I am assuming you have a 30 AMP power cable. I'd try running the rear unit alone to be sure it is functioning OK. This would indicate the controller is doing something wrong.

There is a current transformer that helps measure the total amps you are using. If you get close to 30 amps of usage, it will turn off the second A/C compressor. (shed) Make sure your refrigerator and water heater are on propane and your batteries are fully charged and then try to run the second A/C.

It sounds like your system is operating correctly. Mine is the same type of set-up. The Electronic Climate Control (by Intellitec) will shed until it can give the second compressor the current it needs to work properly. This is a good system that will allow both air units to run (but not start) at the same time. When you turn them on just wait and the red/green shed indication should turn solid green when the compressor cuts on. As previously stated, try the rear unit alone as well. Mine will sometimes shed before cutting on one only.

Thanks for the replys, I was starting to think that SHED was misspelled. Could low amp shore power cause the problem? Both units run fine off generator.

Shore power will only support a 30 amp max draw for the entire unit. Your 5500 watt gennie will support +/- 45.8 amp max at 120v. The controller will shed quicker if at all.
