We are full timing/camp hosts.our water heater has a red lighted rocker switch for 110volt and a green lighted rocker switch for lp. Which of tbese can I leave on all the time? Or do we have to think ahead a half hour anytime we shower or do dishes? All the manuals don't seem to help.

Thanks to all of you.I wes just worried because the red lighted switch gets pretty darn hot.

The lightbulb in that red switch is operating a bit over its rated 12V DC voltage due to the higher voltage (13.5V +/-) put out by the RV charging system. It tends to run hot and they frequently burn out for folks--this doesn't affect the operation of the water heater, just the light in the switch.

  • When it's only the 2 of us the electric works fine. We only use the LP when you need to have three or more showers in a short time.
  • There is a thermostat for each of the heating systems, electric and gas. You can leave either or both on all the time as they will cycle as hot water requirements need to be met. We also full time and if we are hooked up to 50 amp our water heater just stays on electric.
