2012 30F Storm

Considering a 30f 2012 Storm...first motorhome. .but we have had TT...any opinions appreciated.
  • The floor plan is everything . We love our Southind 32ft Ford V10 .
  • Check for all workmanship! We had a 2012 Storm 28". All kinds of workmanship issues. Biggest one being the tank dump spout didn't line up with the hole to get a hose in there. Cupboards didn't line up, shower door also unaligned. Heater venting wasn't attached. The storm spentost of its first year in for repairs. We dumped it and purchased a used 2001 holiday rambler.

Loved the size and the layout, Just couldn't deal with the constant having to take it back in. Waiting for authorization from fleetwood was ridiculous.

So, in summary, pre check EVERYTHING!

Thor has excellent customer service. I've had 2 entry level Thors now with hardly any issues and what I did have was taken care of very professionally and easily by Thor. They get a bad rap due to Palazzo issues with the slides but turns out that Winnie is starting to have the same issues. Just remember that the Storm, like the ACE and some others are entry level. Expect entry level quality. We are talking about $50 - 60k MH, not twice that or more.

But Thor customer service is awesome. You will hear a lot of people slander Thor, typically folks who don't own them.
  • We have a Fleetwood Encounter 32bh which is the same line as the as the Storm. Fleetwood was forced to change the name because of a lawsuit. I think the model number you are looking at may actually be the 28f. Which looks to have a nice layout. Does the one you are looking at have the drop down bunk in front? That's a nice optional feature that works well for added space if needed. As Fischer said, layout and floorplan is everything. Make sure it works and has the space you need.

We are not the original owners and I don't know how many problems they had to have fixed, but its in great shape now. Ours is very nice, we love it, a perfect fit for our family. There are alot small features Fleetwood included that make it higher end than it is. In other words a lot of bang for the buck.

If you do get it make sure to search the boards for the Cheap Handling Fix (CHF). This 30 minute adjustment to the suspension goes a long way to make the MH ride better.

    Good luck!
