5th anniversary for our Nexus Phantom 23P...
Five years ago today I negotiated the aquisition of our 2012 Nexus Phantom 23P. I found it on the internet at the La Mesa RV here in Tucson with just 6,205 miles and about as close to "New" as any used coach I have ever seen.
This eliminated the need for me to pursue the build of a new one that I had been working directly with Nexus on. This also eliminated the need to make two trips to Elkhart, one to tour the facility and do the deal and of course the second to take delivery, do the PDI etc.
Our coach came with every option {V-10 - 5 speed Torque Shift trans, 55 gal fuel tank, custom interior, heated tanks, heated remote control mirrors, power drivers seat, electric awning, outside shower, 3 burner stove and oven, huge microwave, 35K BTU furnace, a quality innerspring mattress... to name just a few} that I wanted on the proposed new build and at $47,000 vs $63,000 for the new coach it was a no bariner to make the deal.
Over the last 5 years and 46K trouble free miles we have been coast to coast, explored 37 states on every manner of road and in just about every weather condition imaginable {except heavy snow}. The Nexus has always been dependable, reliable and above all, sooo comfortable everywhere we have traveled.
The ride and handling are awesome and the only mod/improvement I have made was to replace the original shocks with heavy duty Bilsteins at 33K miles. Over the last 3 years we have added riding my motorcycles to the RV equation by towing first my BMW R80 in a homemade Harbor freight trailer, then the Harley Dyna Super Glide that replaced it on a Kendon single trailer.
Just replaced the Harley and the Kendon with a new Indian Springfield and a nice Pace American Outback 6 X 10' {14' overall - 2,990 GVWR} cargo trailer. The extra protection and security afforded by the cargo trailer, not to mention the extra storage it brings to our travels has been great.
We are looking forward to the future and expect the next 5 to be at least as much fun and successful as the first 5. I sincerely wish everyone an RV experience that is as positive as ours... happy trails one and all!
