If you lay the FG and resin up on the inside of the cover it will strengthen it and you will not be able to see the repair. You can cover the inside mold line completely for a new cover or partially and leave the old cover on the outside. I think if the MH spends most of it's time in the south it will have more UV damage to plastic parts compared to northern states and that would be one of the determining factors as to whether to repair or replace. I think a replacement cover will run you a little over $100. The FG and resin will cost half that.

The Air Conditioner (A/C) "covers" on the roof of my 1987 Winnebago Elandan are still in quite reasonable condition, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Camping World people (associated with the Good Sam Club, of all things) do list replacement housings or covers for the Coleman Delta TX air conditioners as being available through them, if I should need a replacement.

There are some other things I wish they still had available, such as some parts for the toilet, but I guess that I should be content with at least having the air conditioner covers still available.

Else. it all depends on the size of the crack.. Many good ideas above, Small cracks GOOP (Assorted flavors at most places that sell glues) works wonders.

Check your various RV parts stores and get metal replacements. Surely somebody will be selling them. They are available. All of the other messes described here are avoided that way and you have a lifetime fix.

What I've done with my 2 and my sons 2 is take the covers off turn them upside down and use resin and fiberglass material to coat the inside of the cover. I used 2 layers each. No need to work to make it look good as no one sees it. Mine are now 12 years old and counting and sons are 14 years.

I have a 1990 model with the original AC unit, which works great - so far. It's an old DuoTherm that will turn the RV into a freezer even on a hot day. If, I was going to spend a dime up there I would replace the whole unit. We take dogs to the beach with us. We go do stuff during the day and I always stress a little over that old AC unit. With that said, we had a three year old Carrier 15,000 BTU unit on the van and it quit with no warning. Of course, it was a Carrier, the worst roof units ever made in the history of planet earth.

UV destroys these things. When they get brittle it is best to just replace them.
